Quadriceps Implants in Los Angeles, CA
Quadriceps femoris muscle (Quadriceps or Quads) implants are used to create an increase in muscle mass and definition in the upper legs for bodybuilders or those men who just desire more mass. This is an excellent option for those with large chest, shoulders, and arms but have trouble increasing muscle mass to their legs. Dr. Douglas Steinbrech specializes in quadriceps implants for male patients in Los Angeles, CA. Implants are tailored to each individual to ensure a balanced, seamless look. Sometimes, even with vigorous exercise, people are not able to shape and tone or broaden their quads to their satisfaction. Quad implants help such people achieve the appearance of larger, more defined muscles in their upper legs. Quadricep implants can improve the proportion and appearance of the entire body. Incision for the implants is hidden on the side of the leg to conceal scarring. Male patients in Los Angeles will typically see a change immediately after their quadriceps surgery is complete.
Quadricep Implant Benefits
Some of the benefits of Quadricep implants include:
- Seeking a fuller, more muscular and defined appearance in his legs
- Useful to men who, despite exercise, are unable to achieve the look they desire
- Restore balance and proportion to men with underdeveloped leg muscles
- Increased sense of self-confidence after surgery and many patients may feel more comfortable taking off their shirts.
Who Are The Best Candidates?
Quadricep implants can create muscular definition and increased mass/fullness in the upper legs. This procedure is specifically useful for those men and women who, even after extensive muscular conditioning, can’t achieve the quads that they desire. Quadricep implants are also recommended for those unique instances when an injury has occurred and muscle mass augmentation is needed to achieve normal balance.

During the Quadricep implant procedure, an incision is made, and a soft, solid silicone implant is fashioned to specifically fit each patient and inserted into the pocket. A pocket is then created large enough to hold the Quadricep implant. The implants are then inserted through the incision and precisely positioned within the soft tissue. This area, consisting of muscle and fat, will form healing tissue that will help secure the implant in place. The incision is closed with sutures, and a bandage is applied to reduce swelling and discomfort. The very small dressing is placed and the patient can typically see the change immediately after surgery. Recovery after Quadricep implant surgery may take up to four weeks. Moving your legs may be difficult for the first week.
Patients will be instructed to gently flex their hip and knee joints on post-operative day #2 following surgery. Dressings are then removed followed by a gentle exercise program within 1-2 weeks to enable a full and comfortable range of motion of the hip and legs. Generally within a week or two, physical use of the upper body muscles may be resumed and within one month, full muscular activity may be recommenced.
Surgical risks of Quadricep implants may include: infection, bleeding, asymmetry, scarring, and muscle and/or nerve damage.
