What Are Quad Implants?
Quad implants refers to the surgical enhancement of the thigh, also known as the femoris muscle (or Quadriceps). Dr. Douglas Steinbrech offers customized quadriceps implants for men in Los Angeles. This procedure is designed to enhance the appearance of upper leg muscles, which can be difficult to shape and tone even with rigorous exercise. The implants can improve body proportion and create a more defined look. The incision for the surgery is discreetly located on the side of the leg to minimize scarring. Patients can expect to see immediate results following their quadriceps surgery.
How Is Quad Implant Surgery Performed?
Patients who plan to undergo quad implant surgery will first meet with their surgeon for a consultation to discuss their desired outcome. During the consultation, the surgeon will take measurements and assess the patient’s body type to determine the appropriate implant size and shape. The surgery will be customized based on the patient’s individual needs.
On the day of the procedure, the patient will be given general anesthesia. The surgeon will then make two small incisions in the thigh area and insert a custom-fitted silicone implant on top of the muscle. The surgeon will flex the muscle in different positions to ensure the implant looks natural and fits correctly. The incisions will be closed with dissolvable sutures and the patient will be given a light dressing and compression garment. The entire procedure takes approximately one hour, and patients are usually able to return home the same day. Before the surgery, patients are advised to stop using nicotine and certain blood thinners as they can interfere with the healing process.

What Is the Recovery Time for Quad Implants?
After the surgery, patients will be advised to gently flex their hip and knee joints on the second day of the recovery process. The dressings will then be removed, and a gentle exercise program will be initiated within one to two weeks to help regain a full and comfortable range of motion in the hip and legs. Typically, within a week or two, patients can resume physical use of their upper body muscles, and within a month, they can fully recommence all muscular activities.
