The tummy tuck, which is medically referred to as abdominoplasty, is one of the most common procedures for men looking to reshape and contour their midsection. If you are a man who has struggled with weight loss or achieved weight loss but still has stubborn fat in the abdominal wall, you may be a perfect candidate for a tummy tuck as a legitimate weight loss option. Tummy tucks are proven to provide excellent results for men. The Male Plastic Surgery Network in LA specializes in tummy tuck treatments for men.

Weight loss not only allows you to feel more confident, but it comes with profound health benefits, too. Not to mention, it will help you, as a man, to feel and look more attractive. Still, even with the positives that come with weight loss, there is one definite negative: Excess skin. Why work so hard to achieve the body you want, only for it to be tarnished by loose skin?

Thanks to Dr. Douglas Steinbrech’s TorsoTuck®, a tummy tuck explicitly designed for the male body, you can rid your body of loose skin leftover from your weight loss and finally achieve the look you’ve always longed for.

What Is a Tummy Tuck for Men?

When males lose a lot of weight, it is extremely common that excess skin will remain—hanging from the torso, thighs, neck and arms. Dr. Steinbrech’s TorsoTuck® is a proven cosmetic procedure that eliminates loose skin and helps men to achieve a smoother and more natural look.

The TorsoTuck® differs from other male body lifts in that it aims to provide a natural look at every angle of your body. The ultimate goal of the TorsoTuck is to remove skin and provide a lift with minimal scarring. The results will leave you looking toned and wrinkle-free. To put it plainly, the TorsoTuck® achieves a natural look that other lifts simply can not. If they don’t know any better, people will think that you always looked this toned and slender.

The TorsoTuck targets a patient’s torso, thighs and buttocks. Dr. Steinbrech uses what’s called a body banking approach to accentuate your features using your own body fat as the procedural filler. The procedure is done right here in our LA office.

How Is the Tummy Tuck Lift Performed?

Before any procedures take place, you will need a consultation. Dr. Steinbrech will examine whether or not you are a good candidate for a TorsoTuck®. This examination will go over your problem areas, goals and then establish a plan of action.

This consultation also helps the doctor to determine where excess skin will need to be removed, where incisions will be made and what the recovery process for you will look like. Every patient is different, so there is not a “one size fits all approach” to excess skin removal.

During the surgical procedure, incisions will be made around the inner thighs, buttocks and lower stomach. Loose skin is removed and stretched over the body where needed.

The surgery is not solely about removing extra fat, but it is also about dispersing the remaining fat throughout the body to achieve a more natural and toned look. If you have excess fat, it gets suctioned out, and transferred to another part of the body to obtain your desired, natural look. Incisions are then closed with sutures and the recovery process begins.

The TorsoTuck® is typically done using general anesthesia.

Male Tummy Tuck Recovery Time

Recovery will differ from patient to patient. Depending on how intense your specific procedure was—along with your own general health—the time varies. Moderate pain and bruising should be expected during the first week following tummy tuck surgery.

When scheduling a TorsoTuck®, you will want to plan ahead for your recovery. Recovery downtime tends to range from 10 to 14 days following the procedure to return to work. More physical activities, such as working out and exercise, can be resumed usually within a month. Remember to listen to your body throughout the recovery process, the hard part is done, it’s all about healing properly now.

Patients are given compression garments following the surgery to help alleviate swelling. Pain medication is also prescribed to help deal with any healing pain.

Is a Tummy Tuck Right For You?

Men all over desire a more attractive body. Because of this, the TorsoTuck® might be alluring to many, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the right fit for everyone. An ideal TorsoTuck® candidate is someone who:

  • Has lost significant weight
  • Has a stable weight for an extended period of time
  • Has loose, excess skin as a byproduct of weight loss
  • Desires additional body contouring and shaping
  • Is in generally good health
  • Has realistic body goals

If this describes you, a TorsoTuck might be the right procedure for your body’s journey.
